Hello! My name is Aleksandra Runde. I am an illustrator from Latvia. I studied at the Art Academy of Latvia, Department of Graphic Arts. Continued my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of Kraków (Akademia Sztuk Pięknych im. Jan Matejki) and the Art Academy of Rome (Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma), where I specialized in printmaking techniques and illustration.
I enjoy both expressive brush strokes and delicate pencil lines, and I am always looking for new ways to draw hyacinths or the air that smells like freshly baked bread.
My debut picture book "Ko darīt, ja esi kails pilsētā" ("What to do if you are naked in a city") won the the Bologna Ragazzi Award 2024 in the category Opera Prima.
In 2023 I was one of the winning illustrators of the 2023 Illustrators Exhibition of Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
